About this property

Welcome to El Vado Motel

Situated along historic Route 66 in Albuquerque, El Vado Motel occupies a vintage 1937 building that blends retro charm with functional comforts. Its Pueblo-style architecture, featuring adobe walls and vigas, adds character to the streamlined guest rooms. The property includes an outdoor pool and a taproom, providing casual spaces to relax. Guests appreciate the well-maintained ambiance and attention to detail throughout the motel’s communal areas.

Location is a strong asset, with the motel just a short walk from attractions such as the ABQ BioPark, the 18th-century San Felipe de Neri Church, and several local museums. Nearby dining options include the highly rated Buen Provecho Latin American Restaurant and other eateries within the El Vado community. The motel’s position makes it suitable for visitors interested in exploring Albuquerque’s cultural and historic sites on foot.

The property is noted for being LGBTQ+ friendly, with a welcoming atmosphere supported by helpful and attentive staff. Guest feedback highlights the comfortable beds, unique design elements, and a quiet setting despite its central location on a busy road. Its relaxed vibe and community-oriented feel attract visitors looking for an authentic local experience rather than a typical hotel environment.

I enjoyed my stay here. Walking distance from the botanical garden. Room was clean, nice, and quite. I like that it was a more unique design (Pueblo-style with adobe walls and vigas) vs run of the mill motels. Price was great too. Would stay here again

This motel was fantastic, so well updated, and kept up. Very close/walking distance to the Old Town area and good restaurants. There were lots of little stores in the building and it's also right across the street from the botanical gardens. The room was really nice, beds were comfortable, and there were great amenities. Staff was very helpful and provided great recommendations. Would highly recommend this hotel if looking for somewhere in the Old Town area.

We stayed in the Desoto suite for two nights and from parking up, to check in, to when we departed, I have to say that everything was excellent! The staff were relaxed, informative and helpful. The location was easy to find and well within walking distance of the Old Town, which we wanted to see! The suite, which we stayed in was lovely and well worth paying the extra for. The pool was inviting and clean. I could go on... It was nice to see how much work had gone into bringing this Route 66 motel back to its former glory and we hope to travel back over from England again and stay here once again, as two nights was not long enough.

Kimberly and Jessica Cortez made my birthday stay an awesome experience!! Highly recommend paying them a visit. I also tried the restaurant Ahh Stir Fry within the El Vado community and they were delish. The rooms were clean. No complaints. Def worth a visit even if not staying.

Most comfortable beds ever! The rooms and the pool and patio areas are all so well kept and cute and full of character. The service was easy and friendly at both the front desk and the bar area. There's also a few restaurants within walking distance, and we had food delivered very easily. Highly recommend! Heads up that the parking was a bit odd/wasn't quite obvious, but the receptionist helped us out and it was fine. Just have to park near the event building behind the hotel and walk through

Loved our stay here as part of our Route 66 trip. Beautifully restored vintage motel! Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Nice to have a taproom on site. Enjoyed sitting on the patio with a cold beer. Highly recommend!

This was a wonderful place to stay, and I also recommend it as wedding venue. The ambiance was charming, and there are good food options on-site. Our room was very comfortable - all rooms and gathering spaces are also located behind a keyed gate for security. The size and layout made it easy to travel between the wedding spaces and our rooms during the party, and there were lots of hangout spaces for smaller groups to catch up. The staff were incredibly generous and helpful - one of them went above and beyond by bringing in her personal garment steamer so we could use it for our clothes! The staff were also were responsive and helpful when someone uninvited tried to get into the wedding. The motel is near tourist attractions that are family-friendly. It's on a busy road, but the rooms were still quiet. The only issue we had was limited parking in the motel parking lot, but there was additional parking at a neighboring motel to use. We will stay here again even when it's not a wedding!

We arrived weary after 10 hour drive. Check in was prompt and room with king sized bed was very affordable and met all our needs. Cool merch available to buy in the lobby with 24 hr hot drinks available! Bonus was a free beer at their tap room while listening to a live musician !! The outside courtyard is lovely! In warmer weather I’m sure it would be perfect place to chill and enjoy the quirky surroundings! Pool was closed but I’m betting it’s a great addition to one’s stay !
